    Devolution heißt in Großbritannien ein Prozess der Verteilung der zentralen Staatsgewalt an Teile des Landes. Das Scottish Parliament, die Northern Ireland Assembly und die Welsh Assembly haben in regionalen Angelegenheiten alle Befugnisse. Nur England hat kein eigenes Parlament. Das Parliament of the United Kingdom in London ist die oberste gesetzgebende Gewalt für alle Teile des Landes, aber es kümmert sich auch um die Belange von England und bestimmt die Außenpolitik, die Verteidigungs- und Wirtschaftspolitik.
